About Course
The Certified Clinical Specialist in Alcohol Use in Geriatrics (CCSAUG) is an advanced professional certification program designed to equip clinicians, mental health providers, and healthcare professionals with the specialized knowledge and clinical competencies needed to assess, diagnose, and treat alcohol use and misuse among older adults.
This program integrates evidence-based clinical strategies, geriatric-specific assessment tools, co-occurring disorder management, and culturally competent care practices to support healthy aging and improved clinical outcomes for elderly clients affected by alcohol use.
Participants will explore neurobiological, psychosocial, and pharmacological dimensions of substance use in late adulthood, learn to navigate age-related physiological changes that affect alcohol metabolism, and develop treatment plans integrating medical, psychological, and social care frameworks.
